The newly renovated Hong Leong Bank at No 1, Light Street, Georgetown held its official launch ceremony attended by a host of corporate clients and business associates earlier this morning.

A thunderous roar of the Lion dance and drummers were part of the ceremony.

The heritage building built in the 1860s has undergone a transformation to suit the modern era complete with parking areas, EV charging station, a lifestyle lounge, meeting rooms and even a cafe – the Kota Bistro.

Guests were taken on a tour of the premises which also showcases various facilities and an art gallery on the second floor.

Present was the managing director of Regional Wealth Management, Hor Kwok Wai and his team members.

He joined other VIP members to perform the ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the official opening of the branch.

“Hong Leong Bank’s iconic Light Street branch is part of our growth trajectory, which is Wealth Management. We have devoted a large portion of our time, space and focus into wealth management, particularly in enhancing our Priority and Private Banking segments.

“It is no coincidence that we are launching this iconic branch in Penang which is touted as the “Silicon Valley of the East” with its rapidly growing economy boosted by Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and a robust semiconductor industry.

“With physical presence we are able to provide personal, tailor-made wealth advisory and help curate a wealth management plan that suits your specific requirements and situations”, said Hor in his speech.

He also highlighted that a vast majority of Malaysians are investing without the help of a financial advisor, thus their role here is vital.

Guests were later taken on a house tour to acquaint themselves with the new premises. They were also hosted at the new Kota Bistro to some fine coffee and snacks.
