The Westin Langkawi Resort & Spa hosted an exclusive evening for wine aficionados featuring a great range of Katnook Estate wines from South Australia recently.
Katnook wine comes from the Coonawarra wine region and has their history stretching back to 1867.
The gathering saw some 40 guests indulge in a specially crafted menu.
On hand to introduce the range of fine wine was Eddy Lau, the in house wine sommelier of Asiaeuro .
The wonderful spread was prepared by in-house Executive Chef Herwig Knapen and Chef De Cuisine Ho Chia Wei.
The splendid dinner started off with T’lur Caviar with classic condiments paired with Katnook Founder’s Block Sauvignon Blanc, 2016 followed by Irish Premium Oysters.
This was followed by Foie Gras Trio (Foie gras crème brûlée, bourbon foie gras terrine, pan seared foie gras with balsamic glaze) with Katnook Founder’s Block Chardonnay, 2016 and Oxtail Consomme and Grapefruit and Cranberry Vodka Sorbet.
Before the main dishes, the Classic Lobster Thermidor (Boston Lobster, aged American cheddar butter poached asparagus paired with Katnook Odyssey, Cabernet Sauvignon were served. .
The finale was the Australian Wagyu Tomahawk (Truffle mash, grilled broccolini, truss tomatoes, roasted garlic Sauce béarnaise, red wine jus, chimichurri) served with Katnook Prodigy, Shiraz .
The dessert for the cosy evening consisted of the Valrhona Chocolate Delight with fresh berries, bourbon caramel.
Among the great choices guests enjoyed were the Katnook Odyssey (Cabernet Sauvignon), Katnook Prodigy (Shiraz), Katnook Founder’s Block (Sauvignon Blanc, 2016) and the Katnook Choice (Chardonnay, 2016).
