
William Chong has long been a prominent figure in the premium wine & spirits industry in the Northern Region.
Befitting his extensive tenure in the industry, he is now promoted as the Sales Director (Spirits) for Asiaeuro Wines & Spirits Sdn Bhd.
Until recently based in Penang, he has built up extensive experience in managing regional operations, developing relationships with hospitality clients (restaurants, hotels, resorts), retailers and direct consumers.
Under his leadership, Asiaeuro’s Northern region, including Penang and Perak, has seen strong growth in both outlets and brand presence.
He has also been key to new outlet launches in Ipoh and Teluk Intan, Perak, overseeing both product selection and client servicing, and balancing premium brand positioning with local market sensibilities.
In his new role as the Sales Director (Spirits) and based in Kuala Lumpur, William Chong’s remit has been greatly expanded. His new responsibilities include:
- Overseeing all spirits sales across Sabah, Sarawak, and the entirety of Malaysia (outside the previous more regional focus).
- Managing the portfolio of spirit brands, ensuring they meet the quality, positioning, and market expectations of AsiaEuro and its clients.
- Driving growth in new and existing channels: direct to customer, hospitality (hotels / bars / F&B), retail, etc.
- Developing and executing strategies for market expansion, especially in less‐penetrated regions (East Malaysia), ensuring consistent brand experience across regions.
- Acting as a key liaison between brand partners / suppliers and the local market, adapting strategies to local tastes, regulations, and competitive landscape.
William Chong’s move to a national Sales Director (Spirits) role marks a natural progression given his regional successes, deep product knowledge and proven ability to manage client & brand relationships.
He was recently in Penang to attend the grand celebration of the 140th anniversary of the iconic Eastern & Oriental Hotel Penang.
Meanwhile, with Malaysia’s spirits market continuously evolving and growing interest in premium, niche, and crafted offerings, his leadership is well‐timed. Under his watch, Asiaeuro can be expected to further consolidate its position in Malaysia as a go‐to distributor for high‑quality spirits brands, while bringing exciting choices to consumers in all regions of the country.
