StarCruises brought tradition to life this Mid-Autumn season with the vibrant “Yingge Dance at Sea” voyage aboard the Star Voyager.
Departing from Hong Kong on 5 October 2025 for a 5 Night Nha Trang – Da Nang – Sanya Cruise, the special sailing blended the energy of Chaoshan’s “Yingge Dance” – a national cultural heritage of China – with festive Mid-Autumn celebrations, offering guests a fun and culturally immersive experience
at sea.
For the first time at sea, the “Yingge Dance” – often called the “War Dance of China” – was performed on deck under the moonlight. Featuring bold costumes, rhythmic drumming and martial arts-inspired choreography, the dance wowed audiences with its powerful movements and vibrant energy.
Guests cheered, filmed and shared the dazzling performance widely on social media.

“We’re delighted by how warmly guests embraced the ‘Yingge Dance at Sea’ experience,” said Michael Goh, President of StarDream Cruises. “It’s wonderful to see how traditional culture continues to resonate with modern travellers. We’ll continue to bring heritage to life through our ‘Cruise & Culture’ journeys – offering themed voyages that combine meaningful experiences, emotional connection and lasting memories.”
An Ancient Dance on a New Stage – Originating from Chaoshan in Guangdong, the “Yingge Dance” blends martial arts, opera and folk performance, symbolizing courage, unity and celebration. Onboard Star Voyager, this centuries-old art found a fresh stage at sea, turning the ocean horizon into a living theatre of Chinese heritage.
Culture Comes Alive Onboard – The experience went beyond the stage. Guests joined “Yingge Dance” workshops led by professional performers, learning the basic steps and rhythms themselves. The cruise also featured Mid-Autumn–themed activities such as lantern making, fan dancing and mooncake tasting – blending festive fun with meaningful cultural immersion.
Special Thematic Voyages Beyond the Ordinary – From the stirring “War Dance of China” beneath the full moon to ocean-themed talks, upcoming wellness cruises inspired by traditional Chinese medicine, and artistic collaborations with Refiner Drums, Hong Kong–based traditional percussion groups, and the Yuet Chi Sing Cantonese Opera Academy, StarCruises continues to transform every voyage into a celebration of culture, flavour and connection.
