Starting today, Penang Hyperlocal is joining election candidates on their walkabout while they meet members of the public and community in their various constituencies.

We also open to other candidates to invite us to their walkabout in their constituencies, however, based on our availability.

Today, we were invited by the candidate for Datok Keramat (N29) Jagdeep Singh Deo, on his walkabout at Sri Tanjong apartments along Jalan Perak.

Residents were out in numbers to greet Jagdeep and happy to shake hands with him.

As volunteers handed out T-shirts and mini flags, cheers of “Kita Boleh” were heard.

Jagdeep also stopped over at a nearby Chinese temple to offer his respect and prayers and also a community centre which is under construction to enquire if they needed any assistance on the construction.

“We are in day five of the campaign but the true campaign started 15 years ago when I was elected.

“We have achieved 70 per cent of the affordable homes target or 153,000 units. This also includes the maintenance of the various apartments and flats to paint, replace water tanks, lifts etc. Some 35,000 projects in the five districts have been carried out at a cost of RM350 million,” he added.

He later greeted residents in their homes to meet the voters.
