Getting the younger generation involved in the music industry can also help overcome social problems and drug abuse.
This is because it will surely help channel their energy and time of towards picking up a singing vocation or even learning a musical instrument.
Working towards this end was the recent “Vocal DNA Master Class” workshop held at the St Giles Wembley by well-travelled trainer, Jinv Wong Vui Wei.
The Sabah-born Jinv Wong is known for having produced many award winning artists from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore.
Present at the closing ceremony was State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy, YB Yeoh Soon Hin accompanied by representatives of the chairman of the Crime Consciousness & Public Safety Society, Datuk Mohd Anil Shah, Seah Kok Heng (Ambassador for CCPSS) and their team.
“Through this programme, we can support and promote young talents to be unearthed from the state.
“This programme is also in sync with the Penang State government to be an inclusive society. Singing is a healthy hobby which promotes positivity and happiness.
“We always strive to support all noble efforts to ensure our children will be top priority to ensure continuity of our legacy,” said Yeoh.
He also stressed that music is part of the creative economy and also brings social and economic benefits. He also cited the hosting of the UAH Music Festival and Rondo Festival as examples.
In a related development, Yeoh also welcomed popular international artists to choose Penang as their venue to hold their concerts. This will also help Penang become a musical hub in South East Asia.
Meanwhile, the workshop was organised by Jinelle Dance & Music Studio headed by its director, Juslyn Toh.
