Veteran hotelier Steven Suffian has been conferred the prestigious Pingat Jasa Kebaktian (PJK) in conjunction with the 85th birthday celebrations of the Governor of Penang, Tun Ramli Ngah Talib, in recognition of his dedicated service and contributions to the hospitality industry.
Suffian currently serves as the General Manager of Hompton By The Beach Resort Penang and is also an Executive Committee member of the Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) Penang Chapter.
With a hospitality career spanning several decades, Suffian is regarded as one of Penang’s experienced hotel professionals. Throughout his journey, he has held key leadership and management positions at several of the state’s prominent hotels, including the former Mutiara Beach Resort, Shangri-La Rasa Sayang Resort, Bayview Hotel Georgetown, Sunway Hotel Seberang Jaya and Lexis Suites Penang.
His wealth of experience has enabled him to play a significant role in elevating service standards, nurturing hospitality talent and strengthening Penang’s reputation as one of Malaysia’s premier tourism and business event destinations.
Beyond hotel operations, Suffian has also been actively involved in industry initiatives through MAH Penang, working alongside fellow hoteliers to promote the state’s tourism and hospitality sectors.
Receiving the PJK is a fitting recognition of his unwavering commitment, professionalism and years of dedicated service to an industry that plays a vital role in Penang’s economy.
