Several vaccination centres in the state had to be closed due to the shortage of vaccines.
Among them are those in the Balik Pulau Sports Complex, Bayan Baru Community Hall, Pesta site and the Dewan Millenium.
Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said that the disruption involved some 20,000 doses of Pfizer vaccine.
“Nevertheless, we are confident that 100% of its adult population would have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine by the first week of September.
“We strive to achieve the target by expediting vaccination efforts at the Covid-19 vaccination centres (PPVs), including the mobile outreach PPV.
“We are also focused on other public health initiatives, such as finding, testing, tracing, treatment, isolation and support, which are equally important to control the spread of Covid-19,” said Chow.
