The Buddhist Tzu Chi Merits Society Malaysia was again honoured for their charitable and community contributions and commendable work.

This time around, the accolade was presented at the MyPLACE Awards 2023 ceremony

On hand to receive the exclusive Diamond award was Tzu Chi commissioner Dato Khoo Boo Leong.

The award recognises the utilisation of the community centre in Ayer Itam which offers various skills training for the surrounding community.

“On behalf of Tzu Chi, I would like to express our utmost gratitude to receive the Diamond Award for our Padang Tembak Community Care. 

“I would like to also thank all the members who serve with loving kindness in the Care Centre in making it meaningful and beneficial for the community regardless of race or religion

“The Community Care Centre offers 11 community classrooms, offering programmes that are beneficial to people of all ages. The programmes are: Digital Clinic, DIY classes, English for adults, focus tuition for school children, badminton guiding, balancing class, Yoga class, creative art, parenting, cooking class,es and  heritage tour,” said Khoo.

He also thanked the PWDC & MBBP for the unique partnership

The MyPLACE AWARDS recognises excellence in placemaking efforts by organisations and communities to improve public spaces, which bring positive impacts and benefits to their local communities.

The emphasis is on initiatives for the improvement of public spaces and placemaking that demonstrate positive considerations and impacts on the physical and social integration within and between the public spaces and its surrounding urban setting. This includes consideration on the quality of its public realm, urban design, landscape and streetscape functions, and integration of the project with the surrounding environment which ultimately creates a sense of place to the public.
