Two students of the Methodist College Kuala Lumpur’s branch campus MCKL Penang Pykett here have created history when their academic performance achieved world recognition.

The duo, Tung Ze Rui achieved the Top in the World for AS Level Law and Wong Ching Shuen who achieved Top in the World AS Level Physics.

They were from the first batch of students who graduated from the Cambridge A Level and Australian Matriculation (AUSMAT) programme. 

Both of the students attributed their success to the lecturers in the MCKL College Penang who prepared them well for the exams.

“Coming from a Chinese medium school, I had some hurdles to overcome however, I also received a lot of encouragement from my classmates to do well. 

“The tutor’s planning for classes, notes and encouragement were all very useful for me, ” said Tung, who had his early education in Chung Ling High School.

He hopes to pursue law and become a lawyer.

Wong in the meantime, is grateful for her success and also thanked her lecturers and her parents for her achievement.

The former student of Penang Chinese Girls High School intends to be a doctor as her father is also a doctor.

“I have already enrolled at the Monash University and will be going to Kuala Lumpur,” she added.

In all, MCKL College Penang achieved a 100% success rate for the 92 students who graduated.

Present at the presentation ceremony was Bishop Dr T. Jeyakumar, Ngu Chie Kieng (Member of the MCKL Board of Directors, Dato Dr Tan Kee Kwong ( Former chairman of the MCKL Board of Directors), Dr Chua Ping Yong (CEO of MCKL),  Dr Gerard Boey ( Principal, MCKL Penang Pykett Campus) and Prof Emeritus Tan Sri Dato Sri Ir Dr Sahol Hamid Abu Bakar.

Enthusiastic parents and family members turned up in full force to show support and encouragement to the students as well.
