Recipients of the Thai SELECT accreditation
Two Penang-based Thai restaurants were awarded Thai SELECT recognition.
The Thai SELECT accreditation is Thailand’s version of the Michelin guide.
The restaurants are the WhatSaeb Boat Noodles and the Chilli Head Bar & Eatery located in the Straits Quay in Tanjong Tokong.
Thai SELECT Restaurants are the renowned symbol of authentic
Thai cuisine and cultural excellence.
They proudly announce the qualification and recognition of 11 additional restaurants this year.
This prestigious award ceremony on July 29th, 2023, marks a significant milestone in the continuous pursuit of culinary excellence and showcases the remarkable growth of Thai gastronomy across the globe.
Since its inception, the Thai SELECT Restaurants program, initiated by the Royal Thai Government, has been devoted to promoting and preserving the true essence of Thai cuisine and hospitality.
The program’s diligent assessment and strict evaluation process
have led to the qualification of 10 outstanding restaurants, making them part of the esteemed Thai SELECT family.
Each of these specially handpicked restaurants demonstrated an unwavering commitment to upholding the authentic flavours, cooking techniques, and cultural traditions that define Thai cuisine.
The award signifies their remarkable dedication to providing guests with an unparalleled Thai dining experience.

There are now a total of 26 Thai Select Restaurants in Malaysia and one in Brunei.
Meanwhile, several of the Thai SELECT Restaurants participated in the Thai Exhibition, Think Thailand held recently at Tropicana Gardens Mall from July 19 July till July 30, 2023.
It is Malaysia’s largest Thai exhibition, which showcases the best of Thai cuisine and culture with Thai SELECT food highlights, cooking demonstrations, cooking classes and more in four themed zones over 70,000 sq ft.
The Thai Exhibition also featured the first Thai pet products exhibition outside Thailand, putting the spotlight on pet foods, toys and accessories as well as pet shows and competitions.
