The Fly Borneo Specials organised by Tourism Malaysia in collaboration with Malaysian Aviation Group (MAG) and Bank Rakyat was launched by Dato Yeoh Soon Hin, Deputy Chairman of Tourism Malaysia earlier today.
The gathering saw the participation of industry players from Sabah, Sarawak, Labuan brought together at the G Hotel.
Some 300 guests from the tour and travel industry, hospitality industry and related sectors were in attendance too.
“This collaborative effort is embraced by Tourism Malaysia, MASwings, Firefly and Bank Rakyat indeveloping holiday packages focusing on tourism destinations in Borneo. These packages will highlight Borneo as an affordable destination for holidays with distinctive experiences of culture,
nature and adventure.
“Fly Borneo Specials Vol. 1 campaign, launched in Kota Kinabalu last September, achieved impressive sales of RM450,000.00. Encouraged by this positive response, we aim to
inspire further travel and boost tourism in Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan, contributing to the region’s economic growth.
“In total, we have 113 unique holiday packages developed by 61 tour agents across Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan. The packages include destinations like Kota Kinabalu, Mamutik Island, Danum Valley, Mulu National Park, Sarawak Delta Geopark, Labuan Bird Park, and Labuan Museum. All packages include airfare and ground tours catering to diverse interests and age groups”, said Yeoh in his address.
He also shared that “Fly Borneo Specials Vol. 2” offers up to 40% discounts on round-trip airfare from selected destinations in Malaysia. Additionally, Bank Rakyat provides a convenient 36-month, zero-interest payment plan for all packages purchased using their credit cards and banking terminals.
Guests were also treated to some cultural performances and a lucky draw session and a fine dinner.
Participants also took part in the B2B session to foster valuable networking opportunities and showcase the latest products in Borneo.
Also present was Tourism Perak CEO, Nurmalis Musa, Tan Eu Jeen, MAG Northern Region Manager, Muhammad Zaki Abdul Rahman, (Bank Rakyat), Ms Barbara Benjamin Atan (Sarawak Tourism Board), Ms Zarinah Amiludin (Sabah Tourism Board), Mahathir Abdul Hamid (Perbadanan Labuan), NorshamShida Abdul Rahman (Tourism Malaysia), Shahrul Aman (Tourism Malaysia Northern Region director) among others.
