With the new school term just around the corner, it was a timely and commendable corporate social responsibility (CSR) project when children from the B40 group received school bags, uniforms and shoes.

Local businessman, Dato Rethinam Pillay working with Persatuan Kaum India Lebun Macallum hosted some 40 children from various communities at the Chettiar’s Tiffin Cafe this morning.

On hand to officiate the programme was Penang State Exco for Housing, Local Government, Town and Country Planning, Jagdeep Singh Deo.

The children were from several multi racial schools such as SK, SJKT,  SJK (C), SMK and SMKJK.

“The children are the future of our country and as such we must ensure that they are well prepared for the new school term. I would like to commend Dato Rethinam and his team for making this charity project a success.

“I would also like to remind everyone to follow all the SOPs although we have entered the endemic stage as the virus does not recognise race or religion,” said Jagdeep.
