Organisers and sponsors pose for a picture

Thirty-four teams representing Australia, China, Hong Kong, New Zealand, the Philippines, Spain, Taiwan, Macau and Malaysia will be taking part in the 24th World Chinese Evergreen Cup in Penang.
All matches will be held from September 10 to September 15, 2023 at three venues, namely, City Stadium Penang, Polo Grounds and Penang Sports Club respectively.
The tournament caters for five veterans age groups from above 45-years-old to those above 65-years-old.
Present to announce the tournament was State Exco for Youth and Sports YB Soon Lip Chee along with organising chairman Teoh Choon Kheng at a press conference at the Flamingo Hotel.
Also present was Tai Lee Leong (PCFA president), Lawrence Teng (World Chinese Football Association), Dato Lee Teong Li (Director of Ampheno TCS), Dato Soh Chin Aun (Ambassador), Lim Ti Wei (Main sponsor), Dato Seri Chew Suan Wei (Sponsor), Ms Phang Lee Theng (sponsor) among others.
The Penang state government contributed RM50,000 while the Soon will contribute RM20,000 towards the tournament.
“The tournament will also encourage sports tourism for Penang as many of the players will also bring their family members.
“We also encourage members of the public to go give their support and encouragement to the players,” added Soon.
The tournament was first held in 1989 in Manila, the Philippines and has grown in stature over the years.
The tournament was created to better foster friendship among the Chinese business community that is spread all over the globe.
