The Westin Hotel brand is coming to Penang.
The new 5-star Westin Hotel, Penang is expected to open its doors in 2026 to bring the hospitality industry here to greater heights.
It will be the fourth Westin Hotel in Malaysia with the other three being in Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi and at the Desaru Coast in Johor Bahru.
Located at Gurney Bay, the 5-star hotel will offer 217 rooms and other facilities like the all-day dining and speciality restaurants, a lobby lounge and a pool bar, with additional leisure facilities such as an outdoor swimming pool.
Other facilities include the Fitness Studio, Heavenly Spa by Westin™ as well as the Westin Family Kids Club.
Their 1,000 capacity ballroom can cater for weddings and corporate gatherings while various event spaces and meeting rooms are also available.
A signing ceremony to this effect was graced by His Royal Highness, Tuanku Raja Muda of Perlis and Chairman of Westfield Global Sdn Bhd (centre) and Kevin Chen, Senior Vice President Hotel Development, Asia Pacific Marriott International yesterday.
Meanwhile, Marriott International group has recently opened the 5-star Penang Marriott Hotel which offers some 223 finely decorated rooms and suites.
Among their outlets consist of the Sago lobby restaurant, Kucina Italian restaurant, Lava Lava swift to-go outlet, ballroom, gym and a swimming pool overlooking Gurney drive.
The towering 55-storey building also houses the Marriott Executive Apartments and the Marriott Residences to serve as the latest landmark on the island.
Other major brand names under the Marriott International group are the Ritz-Carlton, St Regis, W Hotels, Sheraton, Le Meridien, The Renaissance, Courtyard, Four Points and Aloft to name a few.
