The Leith Penang held its grand opening after undergoing major renovation and upgrading work.
The 44-room hotel, formerly known as the Waldorf Hotel, is located along Leigh Street in the heart of Georgetown.
State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy YB Wong Hon Wai along with the directors of the hotel were on hand to perform the ribbon cutting ceremony.
Also present was Hong Kong artiste, Ms Amy Yip who is the non-executive director and brand ambassador of Artiste Hotel Management.
Others present were Dato Seri Dr Mohammed Anwar Faisal, Ms Evians Choong, managing director of EVS Holdings Sdn Bhd & Artiste Hotel Management Sdn Bhd, Arshad Kamarulzaman, Managing director of Irama Dining Group, Ms Looi Je Dee, director of Artiste Hotel Management among others.
Lending support was Malaysian Association of Hotel (MAH) Penang chapter chairman, Dato Tony Goh, Dato Lim Mee Lee and Dr Mary Ann Harris.
.In his address, Wong congratulated the management of The Leith Penang on their official opening as it symbolises its rich past.
“I am proud to announce that The Leith Hotel recently hosted and sponsored “The Angel Island”, a Japanese short film set for release next year.
“The journey of The Leith is one of vision and transformation, evolving from a neglected building into a beautifully restored boutique hotel.
“The Leith Hotel stands out as a true reflection of Penang’s resilience. I am also pleased to note that The Leith Hotel’s collaboration with Irama Dining Group, bringing fine dining experiences that complements the hotel’s offerings.
Wong also joined hands with VIP guests to perform the ribbon cutting ceremony as a Lion dance ushered in good fortune and tidings.
