The G Hotel in Penang recently hosted its much-anticipated staff party, themed “Cinematic Character Night,” at its grand ballroom recently.

Team members from both G Hotel Gurney and G Hotel Kelawai came together for an evening filled with fun, laughter, and camaraderie. 

The ballroom was transformed into a dazzling, movie-inspired wonderland, with staff dressed as their favourite on-screen characters — from daring superheroes and iconic villains to beloved fantasy figures and Hollywood stars.

In his welcome speech, General Manager Michael Hanratty expressed heartfelt appreciation to the entire team for their unwavering dedication and teamwork, which have driven G Hotel’s success throughout the year. 

“In today’s dynamic hospitality landscape, every challenge presents not just change, but opportunity,” said Michael. 

“Our greatest strength lies in our people — their passion, teamwork, and dedication continually elevate our standards and uphold G Hotel’s reputation for excellence in the hospitality industry.”

Guests were treated to an indulgent international buffet, featuring an impressive spread of Western favourites, Japanese delights, and local Malaysian classics. Adding a personal touch to the evening, the owners and Heads of Department (HODs) served food to team members — a heartfelt gesture of gratitude and humility that perfectly embodied the spirit of unity and appreciation that defines G Hotel’s culture.

The night continued with lively staff performances from the Food & Beverage, Housekeeping, Front Office, and Reservations departments, showcasing the creativity and talent of the G Hotel team.

One of the evening’s highlights was the Long Service Awards, celebrating employees who have demonstrated years of loyalty, excellence, and dedication to the G Hotel family.

The Costume Competition was another showstopper. Nor Azlina from the Food & Beverage department wowed the crowd and clinched Best Female Costume with her jaw-dropping “Annabelle in a Box” outfit, while Muhammad Shazrul Hisham, also from Food & Beverage, took home Best Male Costume for his creative portrayal of Po from Kung Fu Panda. Both winners received RM250 in cash, amid cheers and applause from their colleagues.

The evening reached its peak with an exciting lucky draw, featuring incredible prizes including an iPhone 17 Pro 512GB, SM Sport 110E Motorbike, luxurious tour packages (inclusive of flights, breakfast, and cash vouchers), a Dell laptop, Smart TV, Michael Kors bag, and two Apple iPads, among many others.

The celebration concluded on a high note as the DJ spun crowd-favourite hits, bringing everyone to the dance floor. It was truly a night to remember, filled with laughter, appreciation, and the unmistakable G Hotel spirit.
