The ASPEN-KLIPPA Penang Bridge International Marathon 2024 will be held on Sunday, December 15, 2024 on the mainland of Penang.
For the very first time, the run will start and finish at the Aspen Vision City in Batu Kawan.
This time around, the runners will run their course in Penang’s 2nd bridge also known as the Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah Bridge.
Competitions will be held for the full marathon (42km), half marathon (21km) and the 10km run.
A press conference to update the latest developments on the route, shirt unveiling and sponsor announcement was held at Komtar by the State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy YB Wong Hon Wai.
He was joined by A. Anilarasu, Group Managing Director of Aspen, Arnoud Bakker – Market Strategy and Real Estate Development Director, Ikano Centres, Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau chief executive officer, Ashwin Gunasekeran, Penang Global Tourism CEO, Ooi Chok Yan among others.
“The Penang Bridge International Run started way back in 1986 and has grown as one of the prestigious marathons in the Asian region.
“We are no longer a local event, we have become a global gathering of runners who share our passion for both the sport and the beautiful landscapes in Penang.
“In conjunction with the run, there will be a special fashion show on Saturday, Sept 21 at the KLIPPA Mall in Batu Kawan”, said Wong.
The Aspen group is also sponsoring 12 visually impaired persons (VIPs) to participate in the run as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
Wong also shared that the Aspen-Klippa Penang Bridge International Marathon 2024 is more than just a run, it’s a celebration of community, endurance and the unbreakable spirit of Penang.
