The splendid looking kampung house
Guests arriving at the Shangri-La Rasa Sayang Resort here will be greeted by a traditional kampung house at its lobby area.
The wooden structure was put up in conjunction with the Hari Raya celebrations to create the festive mood and atmosphere for visitors.
The making of the kampung house is a collaboration effort by the resort’s housekeeping team. It took them several days for them to assemble the materials and put up the structure.
The final result is a beautiful mini-size Kampung House which is reminiscent of the traditional vernacular residences of Malay villages.
The Kampung House is adorned with intricate lighting and decorative decor, symbolizing the warmth and unity of our community during this joyous celebration.
Back in the days, a kampung house was built on stilts to keep away wild animals and provide safety from floods.
Kampung houses still remain in the country mainly found in smaller towns in the outskirts.
They are also known to provide good ventilation as there are many windows and circulation of cool air from all sides of the house.
