In conjunction with World Clean Up Day 2025, Sunway Hotel Georgetown and Sunway Hotel Seberang Jaya team members once again rolled up their sleeves for a community clean-up event, reinforcing their long-standing commitment to sustainability and community engagement.

The initiative reflects both hotels’ dedication to protecting Penang’s environment, fostering strong ties with the local community, and inspiring collective responsibility in keeping the state clean and green.

Sunway Hotel Georgetown will host its clean-up event earlier this morning with the participation of YB Teh Lai Heng, state assemblyman for Komtar, along with MBP representative, Benji Ang and representatives from the Village Community Management Council (MPKK).

They were welcomed by hotel manager Nagaswaran Pillai and Alexander Natusch (Director Asset Management) from Kuala Lumpur.

Staff members and volunteers gathered to clean up the surroundings of the hotel and nearby public areas, further strengthening the hotel’s collaboration with the City Council of Penang Island (MBPP). They undertook the cleaning exercise along New Lane, Macalister Road, Datuk Keramat and nearby lanes too.

Meanwhile, earlier in the month, Sunway Hotel Seberang Jaya carried out its clean-up drive in partnership with the Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP).

As in previous years, hotel staff formed the main pool of volunteers, contributing their time and effort to give back to the local community and care for the environment.

Both events feature not only clean-up activities but also recycling drives and awareness efforts to highlight the importance of reducing waste and protecting natural surroundings.

“Today’s clean-up initiative, in conjunction with World Clean Up Day, is more than just an activity. It reflects our shared commitment towards a cleaner, greener and healthier Penang. We are honoured to have the support of our community leaders and city councils, whose presence strengthens the impact of our efforts.

“At Sunway, sustainability is not just a corporate responsibility; it is part of who we are. By working hand in hand with our local communities, we can amplify the message that caring for our environment is everyone’s duty. Together, we can inspire more people to act, whether in their neighbourhoods, workplaces, or daily lives.

“The clean-up initiatives are not just about keeping our surroundings clean, but also about working hand in hand with our local communities to create lasting impact. By joining forces with MBPP, MBSP, and our community leaders, we aim to inspire collective action for a greener and healthier Penang,” said  Nagaswaran.

Through these initiatives, the hotels reaffirm their role in driving positive change and promoting a cleaner, greener Penang, reminding both citizens and visitors of the importance of preserving the environment for future generations.

Syabas to Sunway Hotel Georgetown and Sunway Hotel Seberang Jaya for the meaningful effort.
