ArulldasThe Sunway Group with the collaboration of the Penang state government brought “Raya Cheer” to 11,520 poor families nationwide in a bid to help them reduce their financial difficulties.In the month of Ramadan, the time for giving and sharing, the Sunway Group as its corporate social responsibility would install Rice ATM machines nationwide to distribute rice which dispenses rice on request.
The group’s first initiative of such ATM has been installed at the Seberang Prai Tengah district mosque in Bandar Perda near Bukit Mertajam.State executive councillor and Seberang Jaya assemblyman Dr Afif Bahardin officiated the event on recently.Also present was Chai Wen Yew, the general manager of Sunway Carnival Mall, Woo Hing Siang, director of finance of Sunway Hotel George Town and Seberang Jaya, SPT mosque chief Imam Ustaz Abu Mansor Mapuridi Mohd Ramli.
Under the initiative identified beneficiaries from the B40 group could obtain rice from the machine.The program would be extended to the parts of the country soon.
