The auspicious dragon in the zodiac calendar has landed at the Sunway Carnival Mall in conjunction with the upcoming Chinese New Year.

The popular mall in Seberang Jaya will welcome the Year of the Dragon offering its “Dragon’s Blessings” for all shoppers. 

The official launch ceremony was held yesterday evening Social Development, Welfare, Non-Islamic Religious Affairs, YB Lim Siew Khim along with general manager of Sunway Carnival Mall, Chai Wen Yew.

Guests were entertained to a traditional Chinese drums performance followed by the Mask-changing show which captivated the guests and media members.

“The Dragon symbolises strength, prosperity and good fortune for all of us. The Penang State Government is committed to fostering a family-oriented, green and smart state. I applaud Sunway Carnival Mall’s initiatives to make this year a vibrant and cheerful celebration,” added Lim.

Meanwhile, Chai said that as we welcome the Year of the Dragon, it highlights and  symbolizes strength and good fortune for each and every one of us gathered here.

“The Dragon’s Blessings acts as our guiding force, leading us through experiences that honor the beauty an significance of this year.

“As part of our refurbishment project, it is aimed at creating ripple effects that benefit both economically and socially. We are proud to announce several first-of-its-kind brands in mainland Penang and even the Northern Region.

“Among them are the renowned Amazon Cafe, Muji, Dyson and Kiehl’s to name a few. These establishments not only elevate the shopping experience but also contribute to the economic growth of our local community, creating new job opportunities for many,” he added. 

Chai also shared that last month they opened the flyover also known as the BKE which facilitates seamless exit and entry points to the mall. 

This was followed by the official launch ceremony and photo session.

The Sunway Carnival festivities will be held till February 19, 2024. Some of the highlights include curated selection hampers and cookies, Chinese traditional dance, Chinese orchestra performance, Chinese calligraphy and other interesting programmes.
