Straits Quay is set to welcome the New Year 2026 in spectacular fashion with its highly anticipated New Year’s Eve Countdown Celebration, expected to draw approximately 10,000 visitors to the seafront retail marina.
As Penang’s first seafront retail marina, Straits Quay will leverage its iconic floating stage to present a full evening of live entertainment. The programme will commence with soulful performances by local band The Wonders, setting an energetic tone for the night.
This will be followed by a series of visually engaging acts, including an LED ballerina showcase as well as K-pop and hip-hop dance performances, promising an immersive experience for attendees.
In addition to stage performances, visitors will have the opportunity to participate in interactive games hosted by the event emcee, with attractive prizes to be won, further enhancing the festive atmosphere.
The celebration will reach its climax with a high-energy set by headlining DJ Laze, whose dynamic music mixes are expected to keep the crowd engaged as the countdown to midnight approaches.
As the clock strikes midnight, guests along the promenade will be treated to a spectacular fireworks display, lighting up the night sky in celebration of the arrival of 2026.
Following the New Year festivities, Straits Quay will continue its calendar of celebratory events with its upcoming Chinese New Year programme themed “Steeds Bring Fortune.”
The festivities will feature a range of traditional and cultural activities, including a Chinese Chess Competition, Steeds Bring Fortune Market, diabolo performances, lion dance and war drum performances, appearances by the God of Prosperity, and Chap Goh Meh celebrations.
