In conjunction with International Women’s Day, the State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy, YB Yeoh Soon Hin “turun padang” to greet women folk at the market in his constituency in Paya Terubong.
The gesture was to recognise the selfless contributions of women figures in the tourism and creative landscape have a beacon of recovery in these two tumultuous years. He presented fridge magnets as a token to them.
“Women play different roles in our lives including grandmother, mother, teacher, daughter, granddaughter, cook etc.”
“The reality tells us that women can excel in their workplace, and at the same time act as the backbone of the family,” he said after visiting the market this morning to distribute fridge magnets in conjunction with International Women’s Day,” said Yeoh in a press statement.
He added that his office has been working closely and professionally with many female industry players since 2018, including travel agents, tourist guides, hotels, attractions, airlines, arts and culture practitioners etc.
“They have been nothing short of exemplary, especially in the recovery of the tourism and creative sectors where they played pivotal roles in helping us launch our range of aid packages.
“Women are an important pillar of strength to our daily lives and that gender should not be an indicator of personal performance.
“Breaking prejudice and gender stereotypes is fundamental in marching towards a globalized city,” said Yeoh.
