The G Hotel Penang is not only charting new horizons in the hospitality industry for guests’ satisfaction but also when it comes to taking care of their staff welfare too.
This was evident at their recent staff party themed “Phantom of the Opera”. Staff members were clad befitting the theme, decked with bright costumes, wigs and masks at the night of exciting surprises.
In all, more than 200 plus staff members attended the party held at the hotel’s grand ballroom.
General manager, Michael Hanratty led the way to welcome his colleagues and expressed heartfelt gratitude to the staff for their incredible dedication, which led to record-breaking revenue and occupancy.
It was followed by a spectacular opening act led by Michael and the hotel’s Head of Departments (HODs), complete with a lively dubstep remix.
The staff members were treated to a sumptuous dinner served by the head of departments who rolled up their sleeves to personally serve the dishes.
This was followed by two talented groups from the F&B Department and a dynamic team from Housekeeping, along with a showcase from the Front Office too. The mesmerizing “Phantom of the Opera” play, followed by a jaw-dropping Michael Jackson’s dance routine was also a crowd pleaser.
Long serving staff were duly rewarded with certificates of appreciation and token of appreciation. Among them were the Five Years Service Awards which was presented to 12 dedicated recipients from Culinary, Safety & Security, Engineering, Human Resources, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Revenue and Front Office departments.
Each recipient was recognized with a trophy, honorary certificate, cash, and buffet vouchers, receiving warm applause from the crowd for their hard work and commitment.
Then the 10-Years Service Award winners took the stage, with a total of seven (7) recipients from various departments, including Housekeeping, Sales & Marketing, Safety & Security, Food & Beverage, Finance, and Front Office.
Then came the grand moment everyone was waiting for, the prestigious 15 Years Service Awards which was presented to six (6) outstanding team members namely the Directors of Rooms, Syahreezal Kamaruddin, Front Office Manager Derrick A/L N B Chandra Siri, along with Matardi Hashim from Safety & Security, Thinagaran A/L Gopal from Engineering, Junaidah Jaafar from Food & Beverage, and Koay Leong Gee from Culinary who received the G logo Gold Coins, cash, and complimentary hotel stays.
Due recognition was also given to the Senior Duty Engineer, Mohamad Fitri Mohd Adnan and Reservation Manager, Grace Ooi Kah Siew as the Associate of the Year Award 2023 winners.
Last but not least, the long-awaited lucky draw session offered a chance to win fabulous prizes like laptops, smartphones, and even a Yamaha Ego Avantiz motorcycle. The grand prize winner was Muhammad Amer Md Puzi from Engineering.
The best costume competition saw Nor Azlina from Food & Beverage winning the Best Female Costume while Shaiful Hambry Hamdan from Safety & Security was judged the Best Male Costume. Both walked away with RM250 vouchers.
Lending support was the hotel’s board of directors all the way from Singapore.
