Employees of the Shangri-La Rasa Sayang and Shangri-La Golden Sands passed the hat around to raise RM2,000 towards the benefit of the elderly trishaw riders in George Town.
The amount was collected in just a few days.
The trishaw riders who are facing tough times with poverty, health issues and homelessness but are still working to support themselves.
Each of the riders received RM100 in shopping vouchers to buy new clothes and in time to celebrate Chinese New Year with a smile.
Dr. Sarah Abdullah, a representative for Penang Trishaw Riders, received the mock cheque from Fiona Lee, Assistant Communications and the hotel crew.
Moments like these truly showcase the strength and kindness of the community. A huge thank you to the Shangri-La team who contributed and made this happen.
