The Shangri-La Sayang Resort, Penang brought fond nostalgic memories for 23 couples who celebrated one of their most important days in their lives, their wedding day, at the resort in conjunction with the 50th anniversary celebrations of the resort.

The couples have had their wedding ceremonies at the resort between from 1973 to 1985.

The ceremony was dubbed “The Tribute to Wedding Couples of the Past” dinner.

Present to welcome their guests was Area general manager Markus Christ and his heads of departments.

In total, some 23 couples from all over the country joined in the memorable gathering at the resort’s Pelangi ballroom.

In his address, Christ thanked the couples for choosing Rasa Sayang as their venue for their weddings and congratulated them on their successful journey to-date.

“We are very happy to host you to this fine evening and we are sure that it will bring fond memories to you too.

“Having been a preferred venue for celebrating love and romance for five decades, Rasa Sayang remains dedicated to welcoming all with a genuine sense of hospitality and warmth,” he added.

Even the menu for the evening was from that era of the Eighties which offered some fine courses of dishes.

Guests were also entertained by the evergreen Colour Phases band led by Kathleen Rodrigues along with popular emcee Gilbert Khoo. The troupe rendered some oldies and popular songs from the past era.

Later, guests were hosted to a cake cutting ceremony and also posed for a memorable group photo and video session.

They also received the resort’s 50th anniversary gold medallion

Later, Christ and his heads of departments went from table to table to present a wonderful flower bouquet and staycation vouchers for a three day two-night stay to each and every couple.

The occasion surely made the couples overjoyed as they reminisce their fond yesteryears.
