
Shangri-La Rasa Sayang and Shangri-La Golden Sands, Penang proudly join the global movement of Global Wellness Day 2026, hosting an inspiring morning of wellness-focused activities designed to nurture the body, mind, and spirit.
The gathering saw nearly 170 fitness enthusiasts and hotel guests turn up at the seafront gardens of Shangri-La Rasa Sayang, Penang, for a morning of beachside yoga, upbeat Zumba and traditional wellness sessions conducted under the resort’s iconic rain trees.
Held in the Rain Tree Garden as part of the theme “One day, can change your whole life!”, the event delivered a well-paced programme that combined guided warm-up activities with restorative and hands-on therapies. Beachside yoga was led by Datin Janis Tan, a registered yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance and Zumba by Amy Chew bringing an energetic workout atmosphere to the outdoor gathering.

Participants got to hear a health talk by Jenny Gan, Director of Nursing from the Ministry of Health, before taking a breather with refreshments during the programme. The morning concluded with rattan tapping and shoulder massage to help guests relax and unwind, followed by a lucky draw and closing remarks as attendees marked the end of the community wellness event.
This meaningful initiative reinforces the resort’s commitment to promoting healthier, more balanced lifestyles within the community. Held amidst the lush serenity of the Rain Tree Garden, the event will run from 7:45am to 10:30am, offering participants an immersive wellness experience in one of Penang’s most tranquil natural settings.
The programme will commence with a singing bowl session by Tan Han How, setting the tone for a morning dedicated to self-care and mindful living. This will be followed by an energising warm-up session, leading into a rejuvenating beachside yoga experience led by Datin Janis Tan, a certified Yoga Alliance instructor, allowing participants to reconnect with nature while enhancing flexibility and inner calm.

Enhancing the programme further, wellness advocate and former nursing educator Jenny Gan will deliver an insightful health talk, sharing practical guidance on sustaining long-term well-being. Participants will also enjoy a vibrant Zumba session led by Amy Chew, bringing energy, fun, and movement to the morning.
Guests will be treated to thoughtfully curated offerings, including light refreshments and refreshing detox drinks, along with complimentary shoulder massages and traditional rattan tapping experiences, creating a holistic wellness journey that blends modern and cultural healing elements.
In support of preventive healthcare, complimentary basic health screenings, including blood pressure checks, will be provided by a nurse and doctor from Tejani Clinics, offering participants added value and encouraging greater awareness of personal health. The event will conclude on a celebratory note with an exciting lucky draw session, offering participants the opportunity to win exclusive prizes.
