Shangri-La Golden Sands, Penang has been officially endorsed by Malaysia’s Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) as an environmentally friendly accommodation.
This recognition highlights our ongoing commitment to sustainable practices — from energy conservation to reducing environmental impact in our daily operations.
The endorsement also places us under the ASEAN Green Hotel Standards, a regional initiative recognizing hotels that champion eco-conscious operations.
As one of the key players in Penang’s hospitality scene, Shangri-La Golden Sands has been embracing sustainability since we first opened our doors in 1980.
From recycling and reducing waste to reusing materials wherever possible, we continue to find greener ways to care for our planet while delivering warm Shangri-La hospitality.
The certification, valid for the next three years, was proudly received by our Hotel Manager, Udo Wittich, from Dr. Annuar Mohamed, Penang MOTAC Director.
Here’s to a greener, cleaner, and more sustainable future together!
