The Shangri-La Golden Sands here is offering its Selera Kampung Buffet during the month of Ramadan at Garden Café till April 1, 2025

This time, the resort has invited two guest chefs from Shangri-La Jakarta – Chef Dewa Putu Rai and Chef Rizal Mantofani who will be showcasing authentic Indonesian cuisine in the spread.

Chef Dewa Putu Rai brings with him over 30 years of experience in Indonesian cuisine. Hailing from Bali, Chef Dewa has honed his craft in prestigious hotels and fine-dining establishments across Southeast Asia. His expertise lies in Balinese and Javanese cuisine, specialising in traditional spice blends that bring out the rich, complex flavours of Indonesia. 

Having led culinary teams in various hotels, Chef Dewa is well known for his signature dishes such as Bebek Betutu (slow-cooked spiced duck) and Sate Lilit (Balinese spiced minced seafood skewers).

Chef Rizal Mantofani, a native of Java, has a passion for preserving and innovating traditional recipes that has earned him a reputation as a culinary artisan. He is an expert in street food delicacies and comfort food, ensuring that every dish he prepares is a tribute to Indonesia’s rich gastronomic heritage. 

Guests can look forward to his specialties such as Rendang Sapi (slow-cooked beef rendang).

The buffet features a delightful spread of traditional local dishes such as the Kambing Guling (Roasted Whole lamb), special marinated chicken (Ayam Bakar), appetising local Ulam, fresh salads and many other mouth-watering specialities to delight our guests’ palates. Selera Kampung casts the spotlight on Malay heartland fare, featuring culinary skills passed down from generation to generation.

Comprising ten stations with different selections for guests to savour, each station is manned by designated chefs who are specialists of respective cuisines and styles. A heady mix awaits from the tantalising fruit acar, preserved fruits dipped in delicious sambal of different variations (local chilli paste), roasting station featuring the lamb on a spit, Ayam Bakar, to main courses featuring poultry and seafood cooked to perfection using traditional ingredients. Among the favourites are Traditional Bubur Lambuk with Condiments, Ayam Penyet, Mee Bakso, Gado Gado Jakarta, Satay Nusantara, Nasi Goreng Jawa and many more.

To completely immerse themselves into local fare and wash down their palates, guests are encouraged to sip on free-flowing eight types of refreshing beverages such as teh tarik and kopi tarik for a full-on smooth indulgence while they feast.

Priced at RM128 nett per adult, RM64 nett per child and RM99 nett per senior citizen, the Selera Kampung Buffet is available throughout the month of Ramadan from 6 pm to 10 pm.
