Shangri-La Rasa Sayang, Penang, warmly welcomed 36 students and lecturers from IJK College as part of a collaborative initiative to enhance hospitality education and professional development.

The visit focused on exploring internship opportunities, culinary and mixology training, and future talent development between Shangri-La and IJK College, a Penang-based institution offering degrees and diplomas in hospitality and culinary arts.

The engaging session provided valuable insights into how academic learning can align with real-world hospitality standards, bridging the gap between classroom knowledge and industry practice.

A key milestone of the collaboration was the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony between Shangri-La Rasa Sayang, Penang and IJK College, symbolizing a shared commitment to advancing education and nurturing future hospitality leaders.

“We commemorate this Memorandum of Understanding as a shared commitment to national progress and educational advancement. Together, we uplift communities, nurture talent, and strengthen a future-ready workforce,” the statement read during the ceremony.

During the visit, Hotel Manager Udo Wittich received the MOU endorsement from the institution’s advisor, Louis Yeoh, witnessed by Dr. Annuar Mohamed, Northern Region Director, Penang Office of MOTAC.

This collaboration underscores Shangri-La’s dedication to developing young talent and supporting Malaysia’s hospitality education ecosystem. Through continued partnership, both institutions aim to create meaningful pathways for students to gain hands-on experience and contribute to the nation’s thriving tourism and hospitality sector.
