
In conjunction with the Pantai Marathon 2025, organised by Pantai Hospital Penang in collaboration with the Lions Club of George Town Mutiara, several major roads will be temporarily closed to ensure participant safety and to support smooth traffic flow throughout the event.
The road closures will take place on:Sunday, June 22, 2025 from 12am to 9am.
Among the affected roads:are Tun Dr. Lim Chong Eu Highway, Bayan Lepas Expressway Viaduct (elevated highway), Batu Maung Expressway Viaduct (elevated highway) and Persiaran Bayan Indah.
The alternative routes during the closure :-
– Motorists travelling from George Town and Penang Bridge (Jambatan Pulau Pinang) heading to Bayan Lepas, Bayan Baru, Bukit Jambul, or Jalan Tun Dr Awang can use Persiaran Bayan Indah → Jalan Aziz Ibrahim.
– Motorists travelling from Bukit Jambul to George Town, are advised to take the route via Sungai Nibong.
The Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah Bridge (JSAHMS) is not affected by this event.
– Access to and from the JSAHMS will remain open, with only one lane closure at Batu Maung to facilitate traffic flow.
– The ground-level lanes of the Bayan Lepas Expressway will remain fully open to the public.
Organisers advise all motorists to plan their journeys accordingly and to follow traffic signage and police instructions during the event hours.
As part of the Pantai Marathon’s mission to promote health and give back to the community, a portion of the funds raised will benefit the Lions Club of Georgetown Mutiara supporting underprivileged patients in need of medical care.
Members of the public can also contribute by purchasing Pantai Hospital Penang’s exclusive merchandise, available during the race kit collection and on race day.
All proceeds from merchandise sales will go directly to the Lions GTM-Pantai Penang Medical Fund.
