The Penang State Government is forging ahead with its “Rent-to-Own” (RTO) scheme which has seen some 3,543 RTO units been completed.
The programme will serve those underprivileged to own their own home.
Their target is 10% (22,000 units) of the total affordable homes or RMM target (220,000 units).
Penang State Exco for Housing, Local Government, Town and Country Planning, Jagdeep Singh Deo was in the RTO Pangsapuri Mak Mandin Indah, Seberang Perai project to oversee the progress of the project.
“This 187 unit low cost RTO scheme is now 64% built and will be fully completed in the fourth quarter of next year,” said Jagdeep.
“Delivery of affordable housing (RMM) will continue to be prioritized. To-date, 138,545 various types of RMM from low cost (33,268 units), low medium cost (29,693 units) and other types of RMM (75,584 units) have been built, are being built and approved to be built”, he added.
