The Shangri-La Rasa Sayang and Shangri-La Golden Sands once again marked Earth Hour by dimming and switching off non-essential lighting in the resorts for 60 minutes.
They also encourage our guests and diners to support the annual initiative – held on 26 March this year – by signing a pledge on www.eathhour.org.
Shangri-La Rasa Sayang floated 164 recycled plastic burger containers with battery tealights, in the main pool to form a giant ‘60+’ sign emphasising our commitment to a greener world.
The plastic waste was collected from takeaway orders during the Covid-19 pandemic lockdowns and we made good use of it as statement pieces this year to highlight the plight of Mother Nature.
Guests who spotted the illuminated 60+ from their room balconies praised the resorts for bringing awareness on the pressing issues of climate change, its impact on all our lives and how everyone’s small gestures can combine to make a big difference.
