GTCC launch ceremony

The newly upgraded George Town City Centre @ Komtar Walk was launched by Penang Chief Minister, YAB Chow Kon Yeow accompanied by Komtar assemblyman Teh Lai Heng today.

The venue is expected to woo locals and visitors here especially with the impending reopening of international borders from April1, 2022.

This effort will serve to revive this area around the Iconic Komtar Tower and surrounding areas.

“This new location with a fresh look is part of our efforts to revive, revitalise and promote this area.

“With a total cost of RM2.8 million, there are seven food and beverage outlets, 58 car parking lots, 43 motorcycle lots, bus lay-by, pick up & drop off point, new landscape upgrading and toilet facilities.

“We hope this venue will bring a “new breath of life” and add value to this location,” said Chow.

He also congratulated all stakeholders for working together with synergy to transform this new venue.

Lending support to the project were The Top Penang, 1st Avenue,  Prangin Mall, Penang Tech Dome, ICT Hub, Komtar management and others.

Several booths were also set-up by the Penang Football Club,  Disted College, Employees Provident Fund (FPF), A&W, food trucks and others created a lively atmosphere.

Also present was Penang Development Commission (PDC) Chief executive officer, Ahmad Zuhairi Ismail, 1st Avenue Penang general manager, CC Yeap, Penang Tech Dome CEO, Khoo Boo Wooi, Prangin Mall manager, Daniel Ng, The Top general manager, KC Chew, ICT Mall marketing manager Ms Josephine among others.
