The 24th edition of the Penang Sports Club (PSC) International Soccer 7s 2025 is set to be held at its grounds in Western Road on Saturday, April 12 & Sunday, April 13, 2025.

Over the years, the tournament has become a premier sporting event in the region.

Organising chairman A. Balasubramaniam said that a record 70 teams will be competing in the tournament this time around.

Competition will be held in three categories, namely Veterans, Masters and Grandmasters.

Among the foreign teams taking part are from Maldives, Indonesia, Australia,  Brunei, Vietnam, Singapore, China and from Hong Kong.

The Malaysian teams are KL/Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Sabah, Penang, Melaka (3), Sarawak and Johor .

The Veterans’ category is restricted to three players between the ages of 35 and 39 while the rest must be above 40 years old. 

The Masters’ category is restricted to three players between ages 45 and 49 and the rest above 50 years.

The Grandmasters’ category is restricted to three players between the age of 55 and 59 and the rest above 60 years old.

All in all, about 1000 participants are expected to throng the Penang Sports Club field and Penang island over this
weekend promoting soccer and tourism for the state.

“The tournament has also helped the state in terms of sports tourism as many of the participants will come with their family members over the course of the event,” said Balasubramaniam.

This is also the best time to see the former international players who have represented their countries.
