A group of fishermen and residents from the Permatang Damar area were given a free health screening check-up recently.
The commendable corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative was initiated by Pusat Perkhidmatan Setempat Nelayan (PPSN).
The collaboration was assisted by Paraclete Wellness Sdn Bhd here.
Among the health tests conducted included for glucose levels, body composition, blood pressure among others.
Among the fishermen was Saaroni Hassan, 72, from Permatang Damar Laut who said that he appreciated the programme and suggested for it to be an annual initiative.
“It is good for the community and their well-being. I go for health check-ups annually as early detection in case of any,” he said.
Another participant was Sarina Jaafar, 56, a Sungai Batu resident, who added that the programme had benefited the locals in the area with regards to their health status.
“I had missed my health check-ups for two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic. “I think this is a good programme to create awareness and a wakeup call to be more health-conscious,” she said.
Apart from this programme, the PPSN team has been going on numerous engagement sessions with fishermen and residents to get their perspectives on the Penang South Islands project.
According to Penang Infrastructure Corporation Chief Executive Officer Datuk Seri Farizan Darus, over 45,000 people have been engaged to date.
“This proactive approach is in line with the Penang 2030 vision which prioritises the interest of the people in state development projects,” he added.
Syabas to PPSN for the commendable community care initiative.
