Two talented chefs, one from Vietnam and the other from Kuala Lumpur were brought in by Potatoes USA to feature the different and tasty ways of using the potatoes in everyday cooking.

They were Chef Steven Long from Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam and comes with many years of service in the restaurants, hotels and resorts there. He is also featured frequently on Vietnamese television to showcase his cooking techniques.

He believes that health and nutrition factors are the most important motivations for his creativity in the kitchen.

The other chef was Chef Federico Michieletto hailing from Milan, Italy but has made Malaysia his home for the past 15 years. He is presently the Executive Chef at the Equatorial Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. 

He graduated from the Italian Culinary of Art Institute of CastelFranco Veneto. 

Some 70 participants representing the various hotels along with culinary college students along with media members had the opportunity to witness the chefs in action at The Wembley – A St Giles Hotel here.

Among the featured highlights were the “Rainbow Spring Rolls”, “U.S Potato Wantons” and the “Vietnamese Fish Curry with U.S Potatoes” by Chef Steven Long.

Meanwhile, Chef Federico showcased his “U.S Hashbrown with meat Bolognese Ragout”, “Panzerotti Baresi Calssic O Calzone” and the “U.S LatticeCut Chocolate Mousse Dessert”.

Guests also had the opportunity to taste the dishes and share culinary tips with both chefs.

Among the popular varieties of potatoes from the USA are the Red, Yellow, White, Purple Blue, Fingerling, Petite, and Russet potatoes.
