The Penang State Government welcomes the return of the Spectrum of the Seas to the Swettenham Pier Cruise Terminal (SPCT) in June.
Penang State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy, YB Yeoh Soon Hin said that the move will surely help revive the tourism industry and related sectors in the state.
“The cruise industry is a major player in our plans to revive this sector, Many other businesses like food & beverage, trishaw riders, taxi drivers, transport, retail shops, souvenir outlets, tour agents and more are dependent on the cruise industry.
“The coming of the Spectrum of the Seas will surely help to re-energize our tourism sector,” added Yeoh.
Meanwhile, in another bid to revive the livelihood of business in Penang, the JCI United Penang has launched its “High Fun Penang” to shore up the tourism industry.
The launching ceremony was held at The TOP in Komtar. Yeoh was present to launch the project.

The simple mechanism of the project includes the voucher booklet valued at RM250 each to be sold at RM89 only.
There are some 32 merchants involved in the programme. Among them are those from the hotels, Food & Beverage and museums industries.
“This endeavour is the perfect example of the Public-Private-People partnership which my office has always been promoting.
“It will help boost the overall industry forward. Although the government has announced the lifting of many Covid-19 restrictions, we must not let our guard down,” said Yeoh in his speech.
He also added that the battered tourism sector needs all the support to help lift up the stakeholders involved.
