The Penang Stray Rescue Society held its fundraising dinner last night at the Jade Palace along Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah here.
Some 250 donors and well-wishers turned up in full-force to show support.
The shelter has some 170 furry four legged friends who need shelter, food and medication.
With monthly upkeep costs ranging from RM12,000 to RM14,000, they depend on public donation to keep the shelter running.
They are presently based in Pulau Tikus, but unfortunately they have been evicted.
However, they have found a new location in Balik Pulau which required the building of new kennels, staff quarters and other facilities.
The new renovations require anything from RM80,000 to RM100,000.
Guests who also supported the raffle were entertained by the popular Chakora band led by Eddie Ong who offered their services for free.
