The Penang State Government will become the first state in the country to launch a 3D lab to gather data and statistics.
The new lab will be located on the 11th floor in Komtar.
Other than this, Penang Island City council will also implement and upgrade the geospatial, real-world 3D modelling, IOT, Big Data, Machine / Deep Learning and Data Science.
Present to launch the event was Penang caretaker government’s committee chairman for Housing, Local Government, Town and Country Planning YB Jagdeep Singh Deo.
He was joined by Zairil Khir Johari who is in charge of Infrastructure and Transport.
“We will need data and statistics to form new policies in line with our smart initiatives. Todate we have achieved 113 smart initiatives and we are confident to achieve 150 soon.
“Furthermore, two officers from the Penang Island City Council will leave for San Diego in the United States to share and learn the latest technologies.
“We also have one of the largest CCTV surveillance capabilities now.
with 101 units around the island.
Meanwhile, Zairil added that the new initiatives are in line with our digital masterplan for 2020.
“The technology we are using is on par with those in China and Singapore,” he said that this is just the beginning and more new features are yet to come.
In launching the new digitalization journey, Jagdeep coined the term “Virtual Family “.
