Penang was aglow with festivity last night as SRJK (C) Shang Wu hosted the state-level Deepavali Open House, and none other than Penang Governor Tun Ramli Ngah Talib graced the occasion as the guest of honour.
Joining him in the celebratory gathering were some of the state’s most distinguished leaders: YAB Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, Deputy Chief Minister YB Jagdeep Singh Deo, Speaker of the Penang State Legislative Assembly YB Law Choo Kiang, Penang Island Mayor Datuk A. Rajendran Anthony, along with assemblymen and other prominent dignitaries.
In his warm and spirited address, Jagdeep extended a heartfelt welcome to everyone present.

With a light-hearted laugh, he noted that in Penang, festivities like Hari Raya, Chinese New Year, and Deepavali don’t just last a day – they’re practically month-long affairs!
He took the opportunity to express his deep gratitude to Governor Tun Ramli for taking time from his busy schedule to join the community in celebration.
The evening sparkled with traditional dance performances and melodious songs, creating a magical backdrop as guests savoured a sumptuous feast crafted especially for the occasion. A cake cutting ceremony was also held in conjunction with Penang Chief Minister’s birthday.
Meanwhile, the menu featured a colourful array of delicacies: golden tosai, fragrant biryani rice, soft chapati, hearty mutton curry, rich chicken curry — and many more delights that delighted the palate and warmed the spirit.
