The spirit of unity and compassion was on full display as the Penang Marriott Hotel hosted its annual Road to Give Charity Run 2025, rallying the local community to raise RM45,000 in support of Kechara Soup Kitchen Society (KSK)—a dedicated NGO that serves the homeless and urban poor in Malaysia.

This year’s event held last Sunday welcomed over 700 runners, volunteers, families, and local residents, transforming a weekend morning into a vibrant celebration of fitness, generosity and community care.

The charity run forms part of Marriott International’s global “Serve 360: Doing Good in Every Direction” initiative, which encourages corporate and community action to create lasting social impact.

Flagged off at the Penang Marriott Hotel, the event was graced by YB Daniel Gooi Zi Sen, State Exco for Youth, Sports and Health, YB Joshua Woo Si Zeng, State Assemblyman for Pulau Tikus, alongside corporate partner Dato’ Dixon Chew, Group CEO of Pensonic Holdings Berhad—the event’s main sponsor and Adrian Chua, Multi-Property General Manager of the Penang Marriott Complex.

Gooi commended the grassroots spirit of the run, saying, “This event proves that when businesses, local leaders, and residents come together, we can do more than raise funds—we build stronger, more compassionate communities.”

The event was more than just a charity run—it was a lively community gathering. Families enjoyed a Kids Club Funfair, a Food Truck Alley serving up local favourites, complimentary health screenings by EyRIS and fitness checks by Oxygen × Orient Fitness. Participants of all ages also joined in the excitement of lucky draw prizes, creating a festive and inclusive atmosphere.

Meanwhile, Chua, expressed his heartfelt thanks to the Penang community: “Road to Give is our way of giving back—not just through donations, but by bringing people together for a common cause. The RM45,000 raised will go a long way in helping Kechara Soup Kitchen Society continue their incredible work in supporting those who need it most.”

Held annually across the Asia Pacific region, the Road to Give Charity Run connects Marriott associates, guests, and local communities in a shared mission to give back. In Penang, it has become more than a run—it’s a reflection of a community that cares deeply about its people and its future.
