The Penang Chief Minister YAB Chow Kon Yeow has welcomed the move to call for the tender exercise to upgrade and expand the Penang International Airport (PIA).
“Finally, the advertisement is out on 8 March 2024.
“Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad is calling for Pre-Qualification for the proposed Construction, Upgrading and Expansion of Penang International Airport at Bayan Lepas.
“Penang has been looking forward to this project for many years and hope that the airport can be expanded to cope with the ever increasing demand.
“Thank you Federal Government and Minister of Transport,” said Chow in his FB posting.
Meanwhile among the major airlines connecting PIA to the world are China Southern Airlines, Xiamen Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Qatar Airways, flydubai, Singapore Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Thai Airways, Scoot, Firefly, Batik Air and Air Asia to name a few.
