Three Penang-based hotels were recognized at the HAPA Awards Malaysia Series 2023-2024 also known as the Malaysian “Oscars of Hospitality.”
Leading the list is the Prestige Hotel Georgetown which has been awarded The Awards For Resilience and recognized as one of the best hotels and resorts.
Furthermore, the hotel’s general manager, Melvin Ooi was also awarded as the Hospitality & Tourism Personality too.
“These accolades are truly inspiring and serve as great encouragement to our team. We also thank our clients and supporters who have made this recognition possible,” said Ooi to Penang Hyperlocal.
He was joined by his heads of departments (HODs) at the glittering ceremony held in Kuala Lumpur.

Meanwhile, the Lexis Suites Penang received an outstanding recognition as the Best All Suites Hotel in Malaysia Series 2023-2024 at the HAPA awards too.
“This is a highly prestigious award that reflects the hotel’s commitment to excellence in hospitality and the hard work of all those involved in providing an exceptional guest experience.
“The credit for this achievement goes not only to my boss, Dato Mandy Chew, for her guidance and support but also to the resilient and dedicated team who have stood by the hotel through thick and thin, especially during the challenging times brought on by the pandemic.
“Their unwavering efforts and commitment to providing the best possible service to guests have truly been recognized,” said general manager Ben Ho.

He also congratulated his team for this outstanding achievement and wished the team continued success in providing the best hospitality experiences to our guests.
Another, Penang-based hotel which was recognized was the Amari SPICE Penang three awards.
They won the Best MICE Hotel award in Malaysia, The Award for Resilience and their general manager, Noorazzudin Omar was the recipient of the Top 20 General Manager Awards under HAPA Personality Awards.
Penang Hyperlocal congratulates all of the winning hotels being recognised at HAPA especially after coming out of the pandemic lockdown and charting new paths in the hospitality industry.
