The Penang Hoteliers’ Association (PHA) celebrated its 67th anniversary which is also in tandem with the country’s 67th Merdeka Day celebrations.
The dinner gathering saw some 450 guests assembled.
The grand dinner was held at the Plenitude Grand Ballroom at the Ascott Gurney Penang.
Guest of honour was Penang Chief Minister YAB Chow Kon Yeow along with State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy YB Wong Hon Wai.
Also present was the PHA chairman Foong Hon Beng, PHA advisor Dato Lim Mee Lee, MAH Penang Chapter chairman Dato Tony Goh.
Motac Penang director Dr Annuar Mohamed, Acting Consul General of the People’s Republic of China Madam Madam Ding Qiao among others.
“PHA members play a vital role in the tourism industry in Penang and are more important than ever. I congratulate you on your 67th anniversary celebrations.
“Penang remains a top choice for travellers in Malaysia and worldwide. The state government is steadfast in further enhancing the hospitality sector.The expansion of the Penang International Airport will further increase Penang;s connectivity.
“We are also planning to organise regional and international level events that can showcase the state’s uniqueness. In the end, I would like to congratulate PHA on this remarkable milestone”, said Chow in his address.
The gathering also saw the special citation for DatoLim who had served the association for 48 years along with a cake cutting ceremony.
As dinner was served, guests were entertained to a musical performance and lucky draw session.
