Ody Odayappan is the general manager at the new Shangri-La Phnom Penh

Penang hotelier Ody Odayappan is the general manager at the spanking new Shangri-La Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
His appointment took effect from June 1, 2023
Prior to his new role, Ody was the general manager of the Georgetown city centre hotel, the JEN Penang Georgetown.
He joined the group in 1997 where he held various roles in the Rooms Division, before his appointment as the executive assistant manager at Traders Hotel Penang in 2009.
Later in 2012, Ody was promoted as the resident manager of Shangri-La Wuhan in China.
Fast forward, the Shangri-La Phnom Penh has some 303 rooms of various categories.
They also offer the biggest ballroom in the city at the 5-star hotel which can accommodate 800 pax for sit down dinners and 1,000 pax capacity for seminars and conferences.
Other facilities at the premier hotel includes their-all day dining, Shang Palace, lobby lounge, deli shop, health club, gym, spa, rooftop bar and grill and their infinity pool at level 54.
“Guests can check-in at our sky reception at level 49, while our rooms are from level 30 to level 47.
On a personal note, after a hard day’s work, Ody likes to spend time in the gym to work out.
“I also like to catch up with friends over a nice drink. I also love to explore new locations and check out local food.
“As I am a hard core Liverpool fan, I try not to miss any of their live telecast matches,” he added.
In his new assignment, Ody will continue to report to Caroline Cheah, Senior Vice President, Operations, South East Asia & Australasia.
