Penang Governor Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak graced the Chinese New Year celebrations open house hosted by Penang Chief Minister YAB Chow Kon Yeow held at the Setia SPICE Convention Centre yesterday.
Also present was YB Steven Sim Chee Keong, Human Resource Minister, YB Dato’ Law Choo Kiang, Speaker of the Penang State Legislative Assembly, Penang Deputy Chief Minister 1 Mohamed Abdul Hamid, Penang Deputy Chief Minister II YB Jagdeep Singh Deo accompanied by State Exco members, Assemblymen, heads of departments among others.
A large turnout of 5,000 members of the public from the various races and backgrounds were also present.
Many were also seen clad in the auspicious colour of red to mark the occasion.
The VIP guests joined hands to perform the Yee Sang tossing ceremony to start off the celebrations.
A thunderous roar of drums and lion dance were among the highlights of the event accompanied by a variety of singers and dance performances.
Guests were also treated to a sumptuous spread at the ceremony.
