The Penang Future Foundation (PFF) has been helping needy students pursue their further education for the past 10 years.
This time around, another batch of students were presented with scholarships.
The program is one of the initiatives of the state to attract and retain talents to spearhead the state’s growth in the next 50 years.
On hand was Penang Chief Minister YAB Chow Kon Yeow along with Dato Seri Nazir Ariff, Dato Loo Lee Lian, Professor Emeritus Dato Dr Lim Koon Ong in Komtar yesterday.
“The Penang state government remains committed to providing outstanding and deserving Malaysian students with financial support to pursue their tertiary education locally.
“As the chairman of the PFF selection committee, I am pleased to highlight that 700 students have received PFF the PFF scholarships towards covering undergraduate degrees in a diverse range of fields, namely Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Accounting and Finance between 2015 and 2022”, said Chow.
He also added that following the 2023 selection process, an additional 43 students have been chosen for the Penang Scholar award and another eight students selected for the Mutiara Scholar award.
In the meantime, he also appealed to corporates and key industry players in Penang to step forward and contribute towards ensuring that PFF remains a lifeline for gifted and deserving students.
“Unless there is enough support from stakeholders, the upcoming online application window for the PFF 2024 Scholarship Award which tentatively opens on July 15, 2024 will regrefully be one of our very last few”, reminded Chow.
Among the recipients present to receive their scholarships were Bej Jia Liang, Daswina Shanmuganathan, Peh Jia Xuan and Mohamad Izzuddin Mohd Hadir.
