Following the Malaysian Football League (MFL) announcement that the Malaysian Super League will resume on July 24, 2021, the Penang state team will gear up for camp- based training.
MFL also announced that only Camp-Based training will be allowed during the duration of the current lockdown.
“The Camp-Based training method is based on the bubble format whereby all players and officials are isolated from the outside environment for a certain period of days.
“Stringent requirements of the Standard Operation Procedures will have to be adhered before teams are allowed to conduct the Camp-Based training.
“MFL approved Penang FC application to conduct the CampBased training starting from 18th June 2021 to 29th June 2021 whereby Penang FC will be based in Grand Orient Hotel and the venue of the approved training place will be the Penang State Stadium, Batu Kawan and Padang Awam Jawi, Sungai Jawi,” said Jeffery Chew, general manager of Penang FC Sdn Bhd in a press statement.
He added that Penang FC has also obtained the necessary approvals from the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), Penang State Stadium management and State District Office for the duration of this training.
“During the 12 days, MFL and all the necessary departments including PDRM can conduct checks at any time to ensure that PFC is fully complying with the CampBased training SOP.
“The hotel will not operating to the public and the entire Camp-Based setting is solely provided for the players and officials of Penang FC.
“The hotel which players and officials are staying are also fully complying with the Covid free protocols and have been approved by MFL. The hotel also ensures that all their facilities such as gym equipment and other facilities are in full compliance to the Covid free standards and is also reserved for the Penang FC team during this duration. Sanitation is also conducted at the hotel.
“Penang FC players and officials are not allowed to receive any visitors and all of them have done the Covid-19 RT PCR Swab Test 3 days before they enter the training camp. All the players and officials were tested negative.
“In preparation for the resumption of the Malaysian Super League, all Penang FC players and officials will be receiving their vaccination on 25th June 2021 as part of the team’s efforts to get ready for the second half of the tournament,” added Chew.
He disclosed that the main objective of this camp-based training is to build up better bonding and teamwork amongst the players and officials in order to be fully prepared and raring to go for the second round of the Malaysian Super League.
